fibrillarin
Highly conserved nucleolar protein (34-36 kD) that associates with U3-snoRNP and is found in the coiled body of the nucleolus. The N terminus contains a glycine and arginine-rich domain (GAR domain). Yeast homologue is NOP1. Expression of fibrillarin (and nucleolin) is greater in rapidly proliferating cells and in the early stages of lymphocyte activation. Autoantibodies to fibrillarin are found in some patients with scleroderma, systematic sclerosis, CREST syndrome and other connective tissue diseases.
